Curriculum & Responsibilities

The Fort Worth Teen Challenge Curriculum is specifically designed to teach the ladies about God and help them develop the skills required for them to become successful Christians.

Our Curriculum

Our vision and mission is to

put hope within reach of every woman.

The Fort Worth Teen Challenge Curriculum is specifically designed to teach the ladies about God and help them develop the skills required for them to become successful Christians.

How It Works

The curriculum portion of the program is comprised of eight contracts, or classwork, that must be completed in order to move on to the Re-Entry phase of the program and finally Graduation. Each contract consists of scripture memory, character quality studies, personal readings, projects, audiotapes, videotapes, and other coursework. Under the careful and intimate instruction of the classroom teachers, every contract is personalized to the specific areas of healing and growth of each lady.

Additional Classes

In addition to the contract coursework, there are Devotions, Group Studies, GROW Class, Individual Counseling, LIFE Class, Parenting Class, and SPIRIT Class.

Devotions

Devotion time is a quiet time each night that allows the ladies one on one time with the Lord. They read various books of the Bible and reflect how the readings apply to their lives and their walk with the Lord.

Group Studies

The Group Studies Class is taught by Charlene Allen. These classes are fundamental tools in the process of developing a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Parenting Class

This class is for ladies with underage children. It teaches biblical and practical parenting skills and techniques for the growth of parent and child.

Larry’s Class

Larry’s Class is held on Wednesday mornings where Larry Adley covers various divinely anointed topics that attribute to the spiritual growth of the ladies.

Individual Counseling

In addition to one on one time with the classroom teachers, each lady will meet individually with one of our staff counselors in a private setting.

GED Class

General Education Development preparation classes are offered to the laides in order to gain their Certificate of High School Equivalency.

Life Class

Amy Fickett hosts the LIFE (Living In Freedom Everyday) Class on Monday evenings for the Re-Entry and Graduate ladies. In this class, the group supports each other through discussions on the challenges and issues that come with acclimating back into society while keeping Christ as the focus of their lives.

Mark’s Class

Mark and Kelli Gannon host the GROW (God Renewing Our Women) Class which is a group discussion class on Monday mornings. The class centers around the weekly readings from The One Year Chronological Bible but also offers a time of sharing and insight into the unending grace that God extends to all of us.

Personal Studies

Personal studies time is overseen by teachers Mary Boos and Toni Preston. This time in the classroom is used for working on contract work and taking tests. Contract work launches the ladies forward from the study of God’s Word toward its daily application.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away; behold, all things become new. “

– 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

Our Curriculum

Resonsibilities

Weekly and daily duties are to help teach the ladies to be functioning and contributing members of society. Each chore helps teach intrinsic housekeeping skills and responsibilities.

Weekly Duties

Every lady who lives in the house will have assigned chores that she is responsible for every day. In addition to her coursework, each lady will perform her job assignment within the house that ensures that the house and the grounds are kept up.

Since we do not allow the ladies to work outside the home until they are in Re-Entry, these small duties are important to keep our home clean and orderly as well as to show respect for what has been provided. These job assignments are the same duties one would be responsible for in their own home.

Job Schedule

Job schedule consists of daily jobs that rotate on a two-week basis. These duties help keep the house clean and maintained. These jobs encompass every area of the house- kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room, classroom, offices, and outside. Each lady will have every job at some point during her time in the program.

Bedroom/Bathroom Jobs

Bedroom and bathroom jobs are daily jobs that rotate on a weekly basis within in each lady’s assigned bedroom and bathroom. These duties include vacuuming, dusting and taking out the trash for the bedrooms. Taking out the trash, cleaning the vanity area, toilet, bathtub and floor of the bathrooms.

Heavy Jobs

Once a week the ladies do deep cleaning for their assigned job from the job schedule such as washing the inside and outside of our vehicles.
